The package

Hotel work is two jobs on one site. Front of house is a stone job judged by an interior designer under lighting that shows every lipped edge. Back of house is a repetition job: the same guest bathroom, eighty or four hundred times, each one waterproofed, each one signed off, each one identical to the type unit the client approved.

Hospitality work should run off a control sample. One bathroom is built early, inspected by the main contractor, the designer and the client together, and that unit becomes the standard. Every subsequent room is measured against it rather than against opinion. Where a floor plate deviates, we raise it before the membrane goes down, not after the vanity lands.

Repetition without drift

The eightieth bathroom has to match the first. We fix the set-out, the niche height, the fall and the grout colour at control-sample stage and issue it as a one-page sheet that stays in the room until the tiler leaves it.

Trolley traffic in lobbies

Lobby stone fails at the entry threshold and at lift lobbies, where wheeled loads concentrate. We specify full adhesive coverage, check it by lifting tiles at random, and set movement joints on the structural grid rather than hiding them under a rug.

Live-site sequencing

Refurbishments run floor by floor while guests are in the building. We work to agreed noise windows, keep a hoarded and signed route from the goods lift, and clean down to a public-facing standard at the end of every shift.

Slip resistance where it is wet

Bathroom floors, pool surrounds and kitchen exits are specified to a tested slip rating and we keep the test certificate with the handover pack. A finish that looks right and slips is a claim waiting to happen.
