What we look for
Four habits, and the trade can be taught
Speed comes with years. Care does not — either somebody checks the adhesive coverage when nobody is watching or they do not. That is the part we cannot train into you.
You set out before you stick anything down
Dry lay, find the sightline, decide where the cut goes. A tiler who starts in the corner nearest the door and hopes is not someone we can put in front of a client.
You treat the membrane as the job
Falls to the outlet, junctions reinforced, photographs at every stage. If you think waterproofing is the boring part before the real work, this is not the right fit.
You say it early when something is wrong
A substrate that is out, a shade variation in the delivery, a date that has slipped. All of it is fine if it is raised on the day. None of it is fine if it surfaces at grouting.
You finish what you start
The person who sets out a floor grouts it. No handing a half-done room to somebody else and hoping the standard survives the handover.
Getting in touch
No form, no portal, no reference number
Send an email or a text saying what you have been tiling, how long you have been at it, and whether you hold a waterproofing qualification. Photographs of your own work say more than a CV ever will.
Apprentices and second-year tilers are welcome to write as well. Say so plainly — there is no point pretending to ten years in an email that ends in a site visit.
