Can a full amenity block be replaced in one term break?

A standard block, yes. Strip-out, substrate correction, membrane, tiling and grout fits a two-week break if it is resourced for it. We will say so plainly at tender if the scope needs the longer summer break instead.

Can you meet campus police-vetting requirements?

Where the campus requires it, yes. Vetting and badging are completed well before the first day of the break.

What tile do you recommend for a school corridor?

A rectified through-body porcelain with a tested slip rating, in a mid tone that does not show every scuff, with a joint wide enough to be machine-scrubbed. Durability and cleanability beat appearance in this sector every time.

The package

School tiling is defined by two things: the term dates and the wear. The work happens in a holiday period measured in weeks, and the finish then takes several hundred pairs of shoes a day for the next ten years without anybody maintaining it particularly carefully.

That combination rules out shortcuts. Amenity blocks get a full membrane, a hard-wearing rectified porcelain and a grout that can be scrubbed, because a regrout during term time is disruptive and expensive. We resource education projects to finish inside the break, and we treat the handback date as the fixed point the rest of the plan bends around.

Programme fixed by term dates

The handback date is the day students return. We plan backwards from it, resource accordingly, and tell you at tender if the scope does not fit the break rather than discovering it in week three.

Wear that never lets up

Circulation floors and amenity blocks are specified in rectified porcelain with a tested slip rating and a joint width that can be cleaned with a machine. Decorative finishes go where they will not be kicked.

Vandal-resistant detailing

External corners get a hard trim rather than a mitre, fixings are concealed, and cubicle junctions are detailed so an edge cannot be levered. Small decisions that decide whether the block still looks maintained in year five.
